Marriage needs affection and also operational clarity. Many painful issues come from unclear assumptions about money, chores, time, intimacy, family duties and future planning. The relationship improves when expectations are made specific.

Before acting, separate facts, feelings, needs and patterns. A relationship improves when people can name the pattern without attacking the person.

Practical next steps

Thank relatives for input, then close the loop with: “We will discuss and decide together.”

Use one calm sentence: "The pattern I want us to change is..." Then ask, "What can each of us do differently this week?"
