Small lies matter because they affect the reliability of the relationship. The size of the event may be small, but the trust impact may be large.

Ask why honesty feels unsafe or inconvenient. Sometimes people lie to avoid conflict; sometimes to maintain control; sometimes because they do not respect the agreement. The reason matters, but it does not remove the impact.

You are allowed to ask for consistent honesty without being called overdramatic.
